This page is part of the spiritual-warfare framework in the codex, drawn from the charismatic deliverance tradition. It catalogs one of the spirits the framework names: the spirit of perversion, which twists God's design for sexual intimacy and moral life.

The framework's claim is that destructive spiritual influences attach through specific gateways (sexual abuse, deep distortion of God's design for sex, sustained exposure to perverted content, generational patterns, sexual soul ties, word curses spoken over a person's identity) and produce recognizable patterns. With perversion the patterns include attraction to twisted forms of intimacy, a distorted understanding of God's design, being drawn to taboo or harmful sexual content, and confused beliefs about the body and sexuality.

The scriptural anchor is Romans 1:24-26, where Paul describes God giving people over to the dishonoring of their bodies and the exchange of natural relations for what is contrary to nature, after persistent suppression of the truth about Him.

The deliverance application: renounce agreement with the patterns, break the soul ties involved, confess and forgive the specific gateway events (especially abuse), receive cleansing in Christ, and walk in the renewing of the mind under the Holy Spirit. The framework treats this as a real spiritual battle that calls for real spiritual action, alongside (not instead of) the normal work of repentance, counseling, accountability, and time.

The codex includes this material as one Christian tradition's framework rather than as the only Christian reading of spiritual warfare. Cessationist Reformed traditions interpret the same phenomena through different categories. This page presents the charismatic deliverance tradition's vocabulary so readers can understand it when they encounter it.

Scriptural basis

A prayer to renounce the Spirit of Perversion

Lord Jesus, I renounce every spirit of perversion and every distortion of Your design that took root in me. Forgive me for what I have practiced and consented to. Heal every wound where perversion entered, including any abuse. In Your Name, I command this spirit to leave my mind, body, and desires. Restore Your design and Your beauty in me. I seal this in the Blood of Jesus. Amen.

Walking it out

  1. Repent specifically for each pattern by name in prayer.
  2. Address any sexual abuse history with a trauma-informed Christian counselor.
  3. Replace twisted content with biblical teaching on God’s design for body and intimacy.
