Theological reading

The doxology closing the psalm, corresponding to Psalm 106:48, which closes Book IV of the Psalter. Its presence here is one of the clearer indications that the Chronicler is quoting existing liturgical material rather than composing freely.

The congregational response is the notable feature. The people say "Amen" and praise the LORD, which makes this one of the earliest narrative depictions of a call-and-response liturgy in Israel: an appointed singer delivers the psalm, the assembly answers. The pattern carries directly into synagogue and church practice, and Paul assumes it is still live and still requires intelligibility at 1 Corinthians 14:16, where the objection to unintelligible speech is that the outsider cannot say the Amen._

ris3n chose ASV, WEB, KJV, and YLT for two reasons together. They are the most literal English translations available (formal-equivalence: word-for-word renderings that preserve the Hebrew and Greek grammar rather than smoothing it into modern dynamic-equivalence idiom).
