ASV (ASV)
"15. Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is epileptic, and suffereth grievously; for oft-times he falleth into the fire, and oft-times into the water. 16. And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him."
"17. And Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I bear with you? bring him hither to me. 18. And Jesus rebuked him; and the demon went out of him: and the boy was cured from that hour. 19. Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast it out? 20. And he saith unto them, Because of your little faith: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you."
"22. And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be delivered up into the hands of men;" (Matthew 17:15-22, ASV)

"15. “Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is epileptic, and suffers grievously; for he often falls into the fire, and often into the water. 16. So I brought him to your disciples, and they could not cure him.”"
"17. Jesus answered, “Faithless and perverse generation! How long will I be with you? How long will I bear with you? Bring him here to me.” 18. Jesus rebuked him, the demon went out of him, and the boy was cured from that hour. 19. Then the disciples came to Jesus privately, and said, “Why weren’t we able to cast it out?” 20. He said to them, “Because of your unbelief. For most certainly I tell you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you."
"21. But this kind doesn’t go out except by prayer and fasting.” 22. While they were staying in Galilee, Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man is about to be delivered up into the hands of men," (Matthew 17:15-22, WEB)

Why these four translations
ris3n chose ASV, WEB, KJV, and YLT for two reasons together. They are the most literal English translations available (formal-equivalence: word-for-word renderings that preserve the Hebrew and Greek grammar rather than smoothing it into modern dynamic-equivalence idiom). And they are in the public domain in the United States, which means fair-use quotation at any length requires no publisher license. Modern licensed translations (NASB95, ESV, NIV) restrict volume of quotation under their copyright terms, so they are not used at stub-level coverage here. NASB95 appears only on hand-curated rich passage hubs under Lockman Foundation's fair-use allowance.
The four:
- ASV (American Standard Version, 1901). The basis of the modern critical-text English tradition.
- WEB (World English Bible, contemporary). Public-domain revision in the ASV line, in current English.
- KJV (King James Version, 1611). Reformation-era, Textus Receptus base.
- YLT (Young's Literal Translation, Robert Young, 1862). Hyper-literal preservation of Hebrew and Greek grammar; useful for word-study work even where English reads stiff.
