John 5:26 says,
“just as the Father has life in Himself, so He gave to the Son also to have life in Himself.” That tells us the Son’s self-existence is not original. It was granted by the Father. Still, the New Testament calls the Son “God.”
This raises serious theological questions we need to test by Scripture:
- Can someone who does not possess self-existence still be truly divine?
- Does this mean the Father is eternally greater than the Son, not just in role but in nature?
- If the Son is begotten, is He dependent by definition? And can true deity involve dependence?
- Did angels worship someone whose very existence was given to Him?
- Is monarchical Trinitarianism the most biblical model of God's nature, or does it distort the equality of the divine persons?
Your answers here shape your entire view of God, Christ, and salvation. We cannot rely only on creeds or tradition. These questions must be answered by what Scripture reveals.
Let’s test it all by the Word, and see where the truth leads.
